Probably Six

Here's what I've got:

Right: 20.9, 15.6
Left: 16.9, 15.7, 16.3, 14.6
(Endo, 11.5)

Probably will get 6. Me? My gut says cancel. My husband says go forward. I'm sure, when I hear from him, that's what my doctor will say as well. Whatever. I know many people would be thrilled to pieces with 6. Over the moon. And I know that quality over quanity is what we're looking for, but I have no guarantees of quality right now. And I have no guarantees that if I had quantity right now that the quality would suck. It's not always one or the other.

Yes, I only need one. And yes, I'm only planning on transferring one. But I was NOT hoping to only have one available for transfer. Bah.

I say go for it. Think of this cycle as a min. stim cycle. They would have been aiming for around 6 if that was the case. Also, look how you had the triplets. Hopefully this means the eggs you have are good quality. The fact that the drugs are also so hard on you, you might as well try to see what you get out of this cycle. Many first IVF cycles are a learning curve for your doctors. The fact that your docs are also particularly worried about you overstimulating on higher doses gives you something to think about in taking advantage of this cycle when your not and see where it goes. Best of luck.

Do it! I don't think six is that bad.

So 6 is a bit better than 4. I would have cancelled at 4... 6, I'm not so sure.

I agree w/ Malky that the first IVF is a learning cycle. I think we got 12 on our first IVF of which 9 were mature. By IVF 3 (our last one that we had funding for), we told the RE to push it and we'd deal w/ some hyperstim. Holy crap - we got 47 eggs and Carey doesn't have PCOS.

Not sure what the point of sharing the above was. I'm rambling... but only b/c I want to give you some advice and tell you what I would do but frankly I don't know what I would do. It's a tough decision - obviously if you go through w/ it and get pg then it was the best decision ever but if you don't then will you always kick yourself in the butt for it? I'm a fan of making decisions so that you don't have any regrets later on. So make whatever decision you won't regret! Ha, if only it were that easy.

6 sounds good to me, I'd go for it.

And I also have to agree that the first IVF cycle is a learning cycle - it's a guessing game. As much as they seem to know about it all, there is soooo much they don't know. Getting all the dosages right is mostly a matter of making educated guesses - they seem to start out with their best guess based on their case history and your history - but sometimes it takes a few tries of tweaking to figure out exactly what will make your body respond.

Oh, and did you fess up about double-dosing yourself?

What if there is a problem besides the obvious PCOS? IVF could help rule out anything else. And that in itself is good.

I know you are inclined to cancel. And honestly, I don't you are crazy to want to, especially with your antral counts. You really should respond better. But you know, if you go ahead with it, you might not need to find out if you could respond better.
